Acting Governor Newsom Honors Sgt. First Class Stephen B. Cribben


SACRAMENTO - On behalf of all Californians, Acting Governor Gavin Newsom honors Sgt. First Class Stephen B. Cribben, who bravely gave his life in service to our state and nation, and extends his deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.

In memorial, Acting Governor Newsom ordered that flags be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol. The Acting Governor has written a letter of condolence to Sgt. First Class Cribben's family.


Sgt. First Class Stephen B. Cribben, 33, of Simi Valley, CA, died on November 4 in Logar Province, Afghanistan, from injuries sustained in combat operations. The incident is under investigation. Sgt. First Class Cribben was assigned to 2d Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group, Fort Carson, CO. He was supporting Operation Freedom's Sentinel.
