STATEMENT: Lt. Governor Newsom ahead of U.S. Attorney General Sessions' Sacramento visit

SACRAMENTO - California Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom issued the following statement ahead of U.S. Attorney General Jeff Session's anticipated lawsuit, to be announced in Sacramento tomorrow, against state law that governs interactions between local government and California residents (Senate Bill 54 of 2017):

"California thrives because of its diversity, not in spite of it. Sanctuary policies like SB-54 keep our communities safe and are consistent with the Constitution and our core values. California won't be bullied by Donald Trump and Jeff Sessions, and we won't back down from defending law abiding residents."
