Lt. Gov Newsom on the Carr Fire


(SACRAMENTO) - Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom issued the following statement via Twitter on the Carr Fire in Shasta County:

"Thinking of the families, friends, and loved ones of the two brave firefighters who gave their lives fighting the Carr Fire, along with all those that have been affected by this tragic fire.

"For those in the area, please make sure to stay safe and follow all evacuation orders."

He urged Californians to seek safety and shared information of evacuation centers and road closures via Twitter while issuing the following statement:

"For all those affected, here's a list of evacuations in place, shelters, and road closures due to the Carr Fire.

"Stay safe, stay alert, and listen to authorities.

"Keeping you all in our thoughts."

Recognizing the difficult road to recovery, Lt. Governor Newsom encourages people with the means to support the victims of the Carr Fire and shared the following statement and fundraising page via Twitter:

"The Carr Fire has devastated so much of the Redding community and surrounding regions. Some have lost loved ones, others have lost their homes and belongings.
