Lieutenant Governor Kounalakis Statement on UCSF’s Proposed Affiliation with Dignity Health
SACRAMENTO – Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis released the following statement today on the University of California San Francisco’s proposed affiliation with Dignity Health:
“As Lieutenant Governor of California, and a member of the University of California Board of Regents, I have serious concerns about the proposed University of California San Francisco affiliation with Dignity Health. Over 1,600 UCSF faculty, physicians, students, staff and alumni have signed letters opposing the arrangement, and leaders of women’s groups and the LGBTQ community are speaking out. As someone who will never compromise when it comes to the rights of women and LGBTQ people, I will oppose any kind of partnership that would openly discriminate against these groups, or restrict their access to health care.”
