Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis, Governor Gavin Newsom’s representative for International Affairs and Trade Development, announced today that Mexico City, including the Office of the Secretary of the Environment, and the Government of the State of California signed an agreement on energy and environmental policies and practices. The memorandum of understanding includes provisions that expand collaboration in the areas of energy efficiency codes and standards, enhanced use of data for energy efficiency, environmental and energy policy development and planning, and cross border optimization of the electricity grid. The California Energy Commission and the California Environmental Protection Agency negotiated the agreement.
