Statement from Lieutenant Governor Kounalakis’s Transgender Advisory Council on President Trump’s Recent Attacks on the TGI Community

SACRAMENTO – Today, Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis’s Transgender Advisory Council released the following statement in response to President Trump’s recent executive orders targeting transgender, gender-nonconforming, and intersex (TGI) community members:
“President Trump’s latest executive orders targeting TGI individuals are a direct assault on the rights and dignity of millions. These actions escalate a coordinated assault on the fundamental freedoms of TGI Americans, endangering lives and livelihoods nationwide.
California will remain a beacon of equality, unwavering in our commitment to defend the rights, safety, and dignity of all people. Our council members will continue engaging high-level decision-makers within state government and the public, fighting to ensure trans+ people are respected, represented, and protected.”
Below is a list of governmental and nonprofit organizations providing guidance, advocacy, and support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis established the first in the nation Transgender Advisory Council in 2021 to elevate the issues faced by transgender people across California. The council is comprised of nine transgender activists, advocates, and elected officials from across the state. View the Press Release for more information about the council.
