California proudly celebrates Dolores Huerta Day and honors her unwavering commitment to justice, dignity, and equality – a commitment that has empowered generations of workers and communities to raise their voices and demand a better future.

“Dolores has helped shape the civil and labor rights movements as a monumental force for change for decades. In the years I have known her, she has remained a tireless champion for the rights of all people, and her courage and resilience continue to inspire me and countless others.

“Her legacy extends far beyond the fields of Central Valley helping to redefine fair and safe labor conditions nationwide. Her enduring call to action, “Sí, se puede,” continues to be a rallying cry for us to remember that we can and will keep the fight alive.

“I am deeply grateful for her lifelong service and leadership. Her legacy is woven into the fabric of our state, and will continue to guide us for generations. As we celebrate her 96th birthday, not only in words, but in action by following her example in the pursuit of a more just and equitable world.”
